Date:
Nov 2024
Materials:
MDF, spray paint
Concept:
The cycle of stars
Celestial Mobile is a four-piece kinetic sculpture that visualizes the birth, death, and continuous cycle of stars. Each piece represents a cosmic element—galaxy, gravity, black hole, and supernova—interconnected by delicate threads, reflecting the dynamic interactions of the universe. Through contrasts in form and color, the artwork interprets astronomical concepts, using four distinct hues—black, white, vibrant orange, and ultramarine—to encapsulate the life cycle of a star.
The galaxy piece, with its white base speckled with blue and orange dots, signifies the moment of creation. The gravity piece, combining orange and black, symbolizes the invisible force shaping celestial structures. The black hole piece, in striking black and orange, evokes the overwhelming gravitational pull of a singularity. Finally, the supernova piece, rendered in blue and white, represents the explosive end of a star and the birth of new ones. Through its dynamic arrangement and harmonious color interplay, Celestial Mobile explores the cyclical nature of the cosmos, reminding us of the ever-evolving universe.
